The OMS SmartReel 250 is a good option for wreck, cave or open water technical diving environments. The sturdy yet lightweight spool portion is made of glass fiber reinforced nylon material and ships out to you spooled up with {250ft | 76m} of thicker #36 braided nylon Red colored line. All inner components of the reel are made of marine grade stainless steel. OMS includes a marine grade stainless steel "Big Grip" double end snap with each reel. The snap is easily attached or released from a convenient attachment point(s) that is integrated into the stainless handle assembly on the side. The stainless handle assembly also incorporates a nifty "line lock" feature that allows for easy storage of the line when not in use. The SmartReel features a simply designed side handle strap made from long-lasting {1in |2.5cm} black nylon webbing with a neoprene slip-on OMS logo cover provides for a custom fit even with heavy drygloves on. The winding knob assembly allows the handle to "spin" for easy retrieval of line and may be removed and replaced with a 5/32 hex wrench if required.

The diameter of the spool portion is {5in | 12.7cm} with a total width of {1.5in | 3.8cm}.

The included #36 line is best for diving in highly abrasive places such as wrecks and caves but is also appropriate for open water use. We note that the OMS SmartReel is only sold with #36 braided nylon line BUT If you replace the #36 line with smaller diameter #24 cave line it will hold up to {400ft | 122m} of line.
